Games I Demand: Mechassault 3

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

If there was one game that defined my early life as an XBox Live gamer, it was Mechassault. I spent countless hours on Live playing the game. I even belonged to a clan for a short while. Damn, that was a long time ago.

Mega Man 9 Demo Impressions

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Mega Man 9 recently came out and I thought I’d give the demo a spin. How could I not? The game was made to look, sound, and play just like a classic NES game! I downloaded the demo on my PS3 to spite my crappy Xbox 360. Speaking of which, I need to complain for a moment that downloading and playing demos on the PS3 is needlessly difficult. Why do I have to download it and then install it again?

Driving a Bus and Playing Games

Monday, September 29th, 2008

There’s a lot of things you shouldn’t do while driving and playing Hot Shots Golf ranks right up there as one of the worst. If you think doing the combo is bad enough, then how about driving, playing a game, and operating a city bus that is full of passengers?

Gamer Blog Rivalries

Friday, September 26th, 2008

In order to drum up some more traffic for this site, I figured the best way would to write entertaining and informative articles. I quickly nixed the idea because it seemed like a lot of work. My second idea was to attack other game related websites and blogs until they couldn’t take it anymore. It is a tactic that most gaming blogs use and it usually works.

Here’s some facts that you probably didn’t know about Kotaku:

1. The writers have never actually played a video game.
2. Kotaku smells.
3. The site is owned by Pandas. PANDAS!

I hope that the first volley that I have launched against the mighty Kotaku will really show them… something and bring me more traffic… somehow. Oh it’s so genius that it just might work.

The New Resident Evil Characters

Friday, September 26th, 2008

The newest character in the Resident Evil franchise was revealed this week along with a returning character. Both characters will be seen in Resident Evil 5: Super Racist Propaganda Zombie Fun Time.

The returning character is Albert Wesker. I don’t know much about him except that he’s evil and once ate a kitten. Seriously folks, he’s really bad news. The new character entering the Resident Evil mythos is Titties McBoobenstien. Titties is a… I don’t know… I can’t read Japanese. I’m sure that she’s a fully developed character though, and not some sort of caricature of a woman that the Japanese are known for in their fiction.

Look for Resident Evil 5 in stores on March 13, 2009, unless you are a shut in.

Thanks to the evil Kotaku for the info.

Bungie’s Next Project Revealed! Sort of…

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Bungie has finally revealed their newest project with a teaser trailer that doesn’t really shed a whole lot of light on what it actually is:

Sony’s Questionable Bundle…

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

The latest Sony PS2 bundle available for the holidays is coming as a Batman theme consisting of a PS2, a copy of Lego Batman, and the DVD Justice League: New Frontier.

Aside from the fact that a PS2 is the lamest gift ever in 2008, this bundle should not be given to a child (who I’m betting is the target for this). Why? Well, Justice League: New Frontier is a PG-13 cartoon that opens up with a suicide and gets darker from that point onward.

The problem here is that some parents are still completely clueless when it comes to animation. It’s hard to believe that cartoons still can be seen as appropriate for everyone when it’s been made clear by the huge influx of anime over the last several years that just because something is animated, it doesn’t mean it’s okay for kids.

Things that Suck: Really Good Players

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

You know what sucks? People who are way better than me on online games. I mean, what’s their deal? Do they play more than me? Or do they just have better hand eye coordination? Seriously, people who are really good at a game when I’m not sucks.

The Canceled Halo MMO

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

I’m still not sure if I can believe this is real, but the story broke that there was a Halo MMO at work at the former Ensemble Studios at one point. A Halo MMO isn’t such a bad idea, I suppose, but when the images from the project came out, well… I’m glad this thing is dead.

Coolest Swag Ever

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Capcom wasn’t fooling around when they created their Megaman 9 press kits. To celebrate the release of Megaman 9, which was done in a totally classic NES style, they created an old school NES looking case for the game disc as well as a box complete with bad Mega-Man art to emulate the original game’s terrible art.

Damn it all, why wouldn’t they do a limited release of something like this for the general public? I’m thinking Capcom missed an opportunity to make some nostallgia based bank off of Mega Man fans. Now the only place you’ll find these things are on eBay. Lame Capcom, lame. I think that the only thing that Capcom could do to make it up to us fans is by sending me one of these things. I think we could all agree that it would help make up for this slight to the fans.

More Fallout 3 Sweet Sauce

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Bethesda, makers of the hopefully awesome Fallout 3 heading our way this fall, have launched the full version of a website called, “Prepare for the Future.” This site is basically a Fallout 3 site (natch), but it is packaged as prep guide for the hellish nightmare future you’ll be facing when you purchase the game. Don’t think that this is some crappy promotional site, the presentation is pretty top notch. It’s totally worth checking out if you’re a Fallout fan or want to know a bit more about the world of Fallout and the creatures therein.

I’m getting pretty pumped up for this thing. I’m already missing the style of the old game, but from what I’ve seen Fallout 3 is looking more than capable of being a worthy sequel.

Tformers G1 Games… Where are They?

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

I can’t figure out why there isn’t an awesome Transformers game out there that’s based on the G1 Transformers. Just think about it, you’ve got robots that turn into things that are also loved by thousands of hardcore fans who also just happen to play video games. You’d think that there’d be a whole series of Transformers games out by now. But what do we get? Not much with the latest being a crappy tie in to the even crappier movie.

Left 4 Dead Screens

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

One game that I’m starting to really look forward to is Left 4 Dead. The game that promises to pit you and your friends against zombie hordes controlled by an incredibly intelligent enemy AI looks like it matches the many zombie attack fantasies I’ve had for years. Kotaku has a nice selection of screenshots for you to get a better taste of what Left 4 Dead has to offer, mostly nasty zombies hungering for your flesh.

I’m hoping this thing is a big hit, because I could use a new injection of awesome multiplayer action. Call of Duty 4 is good and all, but it can’t beat fighting for your life against hordes of zombies, especially if teamwork is as critical to survival as it’s being touted. So if you’re on my friends list, you’re almost duty bound to purchase Left 4 Dead. Oh yeah, and you have to buy me a copy too.

Unlocking Rock Band 2s Songy Goodness

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

It seems like I’m not the only one who is lamenting the loss of one of the first Rock Band’s modes, the solo tour which allowed you to unlock all of the game’s songs one by one. If you’re frustrated with having to play through World Tour in order to unlock all the songs, then there’s a cheat for you. (Go to end of post for the cheat)

Rambo in the Arcades

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

It’s something I’ve written about here and I think it needs revisiting from time to time, that is, the sad state of the American Arcade. Where once the landscape was dominated by places full of the newest and coolest videogames, now there exists only pockets of games that really mostly on gimmicks to part you from your dollars. The last bastion of the arcade outside of Dave and Busters here in the states is the nation of Japan. There they are getting a new Rambo game of all things:

The only real detail uncovered so far is that the game features a Anger System that allows John Rambo to kill better the angrier he gets, which is kind of like the Hulk with less green. Sigh, let’s hope that this puppy gets brought over here for our sad arcades.
