Halo Recon - The Trailer

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Bungie was finally allowed to reveal in full their next game and it is Halo 3: Recon, the Halo themed expansion game featuring an ODST trooper (though it’s a UNSC Recon trooper really) that we pretty much all figured out from the teaser trailer. Here’s the full trailer if you haven’t seen it yet.

The game is a prequel to the events in Halo 3 and is due out sometime in November of ‘09. Damn, why do we have to wait so friggen long for this thing?

At first I was a bit disappointed that Bungie’s project was a Halo game, but I’m so jazzed for this now that I can’t handle it. The parts of Halo 2 and 3 are the ones where you’re on Earth and getting screwed out of the mostly Earth based campaign that was implied in the original build up to that game, it looks like I’ll finally get the Halo game I had wanted all those years ago.

Games I Demand: Mechassault 3

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

If there was one game that defined my early life as an XBox Live gamer, it was Mechassault. I spent countless hours on Live playing the game. I even belonged to a clan for a short while. Damn, that was a long time ago.

Bungie has finally revealed their newest project with a teaser trailer that doesn’t really shed a whole lot of light on what it actually is:

Will Halo Wars Suck Now?

Monday, September 15th, 2008

This last week Microsoft announced the closure of Ensemble Studios who just happen to be making Halo Wars. The inevitable question is, “Will Halo Wars suck?” I think it’s a pretty fair question, considering that if there’s any work to be done it will be by people who are losing their jobs or to someone new. Ensemble Studios has now stepped in to let us know that Halo Wars will not suck because of the closure. You can see the lead designers response over on File Front if you wish. The short version is, yeah it might be a bit tough, but we’re still working hard on it.

For those employees not moving to other positions within Microsoft, you have to wonder how this is going to affect their work. I mean, the last thing I want to do is do a super awesome job for the company that shit canned me. Perhaps gamers can look forward to some rather interesting Easter Eggs…
