Left 4 Dead DLC Will Be Free

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Wow, I’m a total piece of crap. After complaining my ass off that the Left 4 Dead DLC, which includes a lot of content that should have came with the game to begin with, was going to be a bit of a huge rip-off, the news hit today that instead the Left 4 Dead DLC being a lame cash grab it will instead be gloriously free for everyone.

Call of Duty: World at War DLC

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

I think I’m the only person that doesn’t own Call of Duty World at War. I decided to sit this one out based only on the fact that I only have so much time in the day for online shooters and a trip back to World War II didn’t really appeal to me. Did I make the right call? Doesn’t look like it as a lot of people have been playing the hell out of it.

If you’re one of those people and you’ve enjoyed killing Nazi zombies and blowing away Asian people, there will be four new maps coming out that should help to extend your fun!

- Nightfire: This map takes place in a burning Berlin at night
- Station: This map is in a subway.
- Knee Deep: This map is set on the Pacific island of Peleliu.
- Verruckt: This is a map for the Nazi Zombie level set in an insane asylum.

First Details on Left 4 Dead DLC…

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Valve has released the first details on Left 4 Dead’s new Survival mode. The details were revealed on Game Trailers TV and while you could go over there and watch 21 minutes of internet programing for a couple of lousy details, I’ll just save you the time.

- Valve is opening up Death Toll and Dead Air for versus play, like they should have freaking done so we didn’t have to shell out more cash on top of the sixty bucks needed to play the game. How AWESOME!

- What you really will want though is Survival mode where up to four players survive against wave after wave of zombies on twelve different maps. It sounds a lot like Horde mode on Gears of War and if it’s at least a little like that, then I can foresee spending many, many hours on this new survival mode.

- Both these items are going to be available through DLC or by getting a special edition of the game that’s due out later this year.

Halo 3 is Still Fun

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

After a very long time, I finally played Halo 3 again. I think my recent try out of Halo Wars got me back into the mood to play the epic first person shooter. I found out several things from playing the game:

1. I’m old. When I hear kids talk about how their parents are pre-ordering Halo Wars for them, it makes me feel crazy old.

2. I’m not that bad at the game. Even though it took me awhile to get used to the controls again, I’m not as horrible as I thought I’d be. Well, except for the one match where me and my buddy got seriously spanked. Those guys must have been cheating. Yeah, that’s right.

3. Halo 3 still has a horrible leveling system. You could argue that only the hardcore should be able to be the best and have a super high level, but it’s not fun getting only one experience point per game. Not fun and lame.

Halo Wars Demo Impressions

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

It’s finally here, the demo for one of the most highly anticipated RTS games of the year… at least from fans of Halo. I have been looking forward to it, because I fit in that category. The first “impression” that I had was that this demo takes forever to download. The thing is over a gig and it took my 360 with a great internet connection hours to download.

Left 4 Dead DLC Info and Some Ranting

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Look, I love Left 4 Dead, but I’ll agree that the most accurate critique of the game is that it’s very limited for a sixty dollar game. It’s sixty dollars of fun, but it does leave you feeling that there could have been more to it.

Duck Tales and Chip and Dales

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

I was a huge Duck Tales fan when I was a kid, much more than I had any right to be. That’s why I find this video both hilarious and moving. It’s a dude singing made up lyrics to a song found in one level in the Duck Tales NES game:

Oh there’s some great stuff in there.

But wait! Before you think that I’m just pointing out yet another interesting thing on Kotaku and lazily writing an article around it like most normal bloggers would do, I’m going one step further.

How about some old school Flash goodness staring Chip and Dale? Oh yeah, this one is an old one, but it still ranks as one of my favorite Flash videos of all time.

Hey, we were more easily amused back then.

Thanks again to: Kotaku

Customer Service Training From Nintendo

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Courtesy of Kotaku and YouTube comes this great Nintendo customer service training video from the ’80s.

First of all, I’ve seen a lot of training videos in my day, but never one that started out so promising. I mean there’s Mario, it’s kind of tough to beat that. Although All the Kings Horses was a great anti-theft video at Wal-Mart, it could never touch friggen Mario.

It’s also sad that the people who return stuff are not that friendly, but they are retarded and try to return garbage like this. They also don’t often wear a business suit. They are however, extremely dumb and they don’t offer to bring you pie.

Anyway, it’s a great to see all that classic Nintendo merchandise. If only I could go back and buy some of those games. I’d make a fortune today by not opening them.

Details on the Terminator: Salvation Game…

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

…are not on this blog. Instead, they will be in the March 2009 issue of GamePro. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, “But Paul, nobody reads GamePro!” Well you’d be wrong, GamePro is an amazing magazine (please hire me).

Creepy Guy Uses Live to Score with 15 Year Old

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

So this ultra creepy, 27 year old dude named Edward Stout, who worked as a card dealer on a riverboat casino (so strange), met a fifteen year old girl through Xbox Live and had sex with her. Now he’s busted for nailing an underage girl and being an incredibly gross person.

Left 4 Dead Valentine’s Cards

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

One talented fellow with the forum name of beavotron on the Penny Arcade forums posted some ultra awesome Valentine’s Day cards that have a Left 4 Dead theme. Since I love that game and I love you just as equally, I decided to “give” them to you via this board. So consider these the first Valentine’s Day cards you’ve received this year (most likely).
