Saint’s Row for PS3 Confirmed [Update]

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

I reported a couple of weeks ago about the possibility of Saint’s Row coming to the PS3. According to the latest PSM, Saint’s Row is indeed in the works to come out for Sony’s console. The question is, when will it be released? If it comes out around the time GTA4 comes out in October, then I think THQ has a really big problem on their hands since most GTA fanatics will go for the genuine GTA experience and not Saint’s Row. Don’t get me wrong though, Saint’s Row was a great game…but if people go to the store and have to choose between GTA4 and Saint’s Row, I can guarantee they’ll go for GTA4.

[Update:THQ has made the announcement on their website this morning, come back after the break for the official press release.]

‘Let It Bii’ T-Shirt

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Nerdyshirts.com has been a website I frequent, cause let’s face it…I’m a nerd! But their latest T-shirt has got me dancing around like a little schoolgirl in anticipation to purchase it.

You see, along with being a gamer, I am also a huge fan of The Beatles. I have grown up listening to their tunes and there isn’t one that I don’t like. And this T-Shirt brings my three loves together. Video Games…The Beatles…and game-inspired clothing. Their latest shirt is called “Let It Bii” and it mimics the “Let It Be” album cover with each member of The Beatles turned into a Mii.

So head over to their site if your interested in getting this shirt. Also, if you want these Miis running around on your console, NerdyShirts even has their Wii console number up where The Beatles are located.

New Punch-Out!! Coming Out For Wii?

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

kinghippo.jpg

I know, I know. You think I’m a genius for my last “Old-School Sundays” post for going with Punch-Out!! cause the story of the day is the possibility of a new Punch-Out!! coming out for the Wii.

The origins of this rumor is from N-Philes. They report that Nintendo has trademarked “Punch-Out!!” once again through the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The article goes on to say that the game could have possibly been in development since 2005 since that is the last time the game’s trademark was renewed.

I for one would love love love to see Punch-Out!! come for the Wii. It would be a perfect fit since the past games gave you a real sense of being in there with another boxer. How awesome would it be to see the faces of King Hippo, Super Macho Man, and Glass Joe once again.

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Microsoft has announced that ten highly anticipated titles are going to start coming out starting in February. Here’s the list of titles:

3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures
Alien Hominid HD
Band of Bugs
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Catan

Looks like one fine lineup, especially with Castelvania, Alien Hominid, and Worms up on that list. Now you see why I posted the article before on the Halo 3 deal? I hope you guys were able to see what I was hinting at.

Video: Sim City DS

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

A new video for Sim City DS has hit the internet today like a ton of bricks. As you can tell from the video, it’s got a very cutesy Japanese feel to it with a super-deformed Will Wright guiding you to the wonders that is Sim City.

Right now, Sim City is slated to come out on February 22nd in Japan, no US version has been announced, but how could this not come state-side?

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

If you haven’t pre-ordered your copy of Halo 3 anywhere yet, then consider Best Buy’s latest deal. If you pre-order Halo 3 from Best Buy, you’ll be able to buy 1600 Marketplace points for $4.99 (which normally retails for $19.99). I’d recommend anyone who’s looking to pre-order Halo 3 consider getting it from Best Buy, cause you really can’t lose with this deal.

Achievement Reward Unlocked?

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

For those of you who currently own an Xbox 360, you know how addictive it is to try to get achievements in a game. Microsoft has done a great job with the achievements idea, even though it means nothing at the moment.

Unscripted360 is reporting that the achievements might actually mean something in the future.

Xbox is teaming up with sponsors to launch a new program next month that will do just this! For the first time with the Xbox 360, gamers will be rewarded for their Achievements and participation in this program. It will be a FREE program for all interested in registering. There are no fees. Your participation, in fact, is simply doing what you’ve been doing all along…playing games, having fun and unlocking those Achievements. From the casual player to the hardcore, this program will satisfy everyone’s gaming style.

I admit, I used to be an achievements whore when I first got my Xbox 360. I had a couple of friends who were ahead of me in points, and I don’t know why but I wanted to beat them so bad. But if this program actually comes to be, then it looks like I need to go back to my whoring ways. If Microsoft did this though, it would be a huge benefit because there have been many times I’m sure people have given up on a game’s achievements because it was just too difficult. Now, it will get players to play on their Xbox 360’s more, and also makes games with easy achievements more likely to be picked up by gamers.

What do you all think about this possible upgrade to the achievements?

Put up or Shut up! 1PStart is looking for another writer

Monday, January 29th, 2007

I know ALOT of you think that you can do a better job at this blog thing than I can. Well, it’s time to put up or shut up. 1PStart.com is looking for another writer. We basically just need someone to help me write more articles for the site since it is getting big enough where we would like at least 10-12 articles on here a day, and that really is tough to do with just one person.

So if your a huge 1PStart fan and want to work side-by-side with me as my Jedi Apprentice, then submit an application to 451 Press. If you are picked, I expect you to work as hard as I do on this site. I try to get somewhere between 5-6 articles up throughout the day. I don’t expect the new guy to write that many for the first couple of days, but I would hope in a couple of weeks that you could work up to writing that much.

Well, that’s basically it. Once again, the link to the application page can be found here. And make sure you put 1PStart in the “Suggest a Category” field so they know you want to write for here.

Hour Of Victory Announced for Xbox 360

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Midway sent out a press release today announcing Hour of Victory for the Xbox 360. Hour of Victory is a very unique game indeed. It takes place during a time that no other developer has touched yet…World War II. I mean, I really can’t recall anyone ever making a World War II game. I wonder what took so long for a World War II inspired FPS to come out.

/sarcasm

Here’s a snippet from the press release that came from Midway:

“Hour of Victory is an entirely new World War II experience designed exclusively for the Xbox 360 that will place players in a pivotal role during key battles using the gameplay style they choose”.
Built with Unreal Engine 3.0, Hour of Victory allows you to sneak into enemy territory as a covert operative, storm the gates as a British commando, or snipe from afar as an Army ranger – each character’s unique attributes will be needed for the fulfillment of the overall objective. Only with all these skill working closely together will you be able to say that you helped define the Hour of Victory.”
