Halo 3: ODST Details Revealed

by Paul

If you can’t wait for more Halo action and the upcoming Halo RTS Halo Wars isn’t enough for you, well how about some more details for the upcoming Halo third person shooter, Halo 3: ODST.

Unlike the previous Halo games, Halo 3: ODST will feature more strategy and sneaking since the character that you play isn’t a super advanced soldier packed with nearly magical tech. He’s slower and easier to hurt so it supposedly will take more brains to defeat the Covenant. One detail that I found most intriguing is that Brutes won’t just charge ahead, they’ll be much smarter. With any other developer I’d take that with a grain of salt, but Bungie knows how to do amazing enemy A.I.

Bungie also let known of a new weapon, the silenced SMG. Okay it’s not all that new, but it’s a variation that the Halo universe hasn’t seen before. Silence wasn’t something that Master Chief really needed. This new ODST trooper though, will need plenty of it.

And if you’re wondering if you’ll be able to meet up with Master Chief at some time you better forget it. Bungie says, “Halo 3: ODST happens while the Chief is away from Earth — after he leaves for the “Delta Halo” in Halo 2 and before he crashes into the jungle at the start of Halo 3.” It makes sense from a gameplay standpoint, you don’t want the big green guy stealing all the thunder from the new character.
