Wolfenstein Trailer

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

The new Wolfenstein trailer is now up and it’s looking pretty good. Maybe not excellent, but there’s really not a lot to judge from this teaser:

The requisite Nazis make their appearance and there’s also some machine gun action as well as explosions. I’m guessing that they were trying to set the record for the most explosions in one thirty second clip. There’s also a few shots of some crazy looking guns that I’m guessing are the results of some Nazi technological experimentation.

I’d like to see more before I get really excited and I definitly need some details on how multiplayer is going to work. Like I’ve said before, the multiplayer on the last Wolfenstein game was what separated it from a rather standard shooter. A shooter featuring Nazis and zombies and junk, but a standard shooter nonetheless.

Ghostbusters in Motion

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

The latest Ghostbusters: The Video Game trailer is up and man oh man it’s getting me all kinds of excited:

The game itself better not suck, because this has potential to be the coolest thing ever. How could it not be? It’s the unofficial Ghostbusters III with all the main talent on board (No, I don’t count Rick Moranis) and even most of the secondary types. Hell, it could almost be better than a movie, because you won’t be distracted by the ravages of age on the main actors. Dan Aykroyd’s almost more frightening than any of the ghosts.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC: The Trailer!

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Well the trailer to the highly anticipated (or maybe sorta anticipated?) Mortal Kombat vs. The DC Universe is finally here and it doesn’t look like complete garbage. I’m hoping it’s not a complete suckfest, because these previews are starting to get me thinking otherwise.

I particularly like the part where Flash is running with the guy through walls. I wonder if that’s a move that’s particular to Flash or if all the combatants, excuse me, Kombatants, will do that as well. It also looks like they’ve gotten their breast physics working quite nicely with Catwoman there. It wouldn’t be a fighting game if the female fighters didn’t have ridiculously large sized breasts that were exposed for no reason.

At the end the also prove that there’s still some fatalities, though you don’t get to see the “good part.”

Rock Band 2 Drums: More Details Emerge

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

An elite team of Grandmas are busy knitting drum silences for Rock Band 2

More details emerged on the new Rock Band 2 drums. While they are essentially the same drums as the first game’s, the new drums are reputed to have quieter drumpads that are velocity sensitive, a reinforced metal pedal (thank god), and clips for add on cymbals that could be purchased separately. It’s a bummer that the cymbals aren’t included with this set, but at least Guitar Hero World Tour doesn’t trump the Rock Band 2 drum set entirely.

But wait, that’s not all! Rock Band 2 will have another set of drums that’s called the Ion kit. The Ion kit will have three cymbals, adjustable pads, a metal frame, and the ability to use the kit as a fully functioning electronic drum kit, i.e. it’s not for just Rock Band.

If you crave more info on these drum kits, you can find all the deets in the latest issue of Games Informer or you can just go to this message board where some dude scanned the entire article and posted it. Isn’t that illegal or something?

This Video of Bustin Makes Me Feel Good

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Wow, they do make a slutty version of any Halloween costume…

Ghostbusters is one of the few games that I’m dying to get my hands on, mainly because the first film dominated my childhood. It was the beginning with an obsession of everything Ghostbuster related from toys to fanatically following their cartoon adventures. I recently came across some footage of the upcoming Ghostbusters game and I have to say it’s looking pretty good so far. You can find it over at Videogaming247 so do yourself a favor and check it out, after reading the rest of this post of course.

I just love the use of a third person perspective. It wouldn’t feel right handling the ghosts from a first person view. Plus it’s a lot cooler when you can see the main character all geared up with the signature Ghostbuster proton pack and other accessories.

Now if the developers somehow read this post I’m praying that they will take care in making this game. There’s nothing worse than getting a crappy movie tie-in that is only cashing in on the franchise it’s based on to make a quick buck when the game could have sold a billion more copies if it was actually good. Please, please make Ghostbusters a good game. I’m begging you here!

A Few Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Details

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

If you’ve been dying to put on your Spider-Man pajamas again and spend hours playing your Marvel superheroes Ultimate Alliance style, then you might be pleased to learn some details about Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. The biggest detail so far is that the story is supposed to take place during Marvel’s Civil War. For you non-comic book geeks, that’s when all the Marvel superdudes decided that it was a good idea to beat the crap out of each other for awhile and give the baddies some time to rest up for their next round of beatings.

Guitar Hero World Tour: Guitar Controller Gimmick and Gameplay Revealed!

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

This last week was a big one for Guitar Hero Word Tour news. In addtiton to the news that the game will be getting songs from rock legends like Van Halen and the Doors, the guitar controller was finally revealed along with it’s gimick. There’s a slider on it that will give you more freedom to tap out notes during solos, kind of like the way you can tap out notes on the Rock Band guitar but with added sliding. There’s also a new bridge button and a accelerometer. While it’s not the world’s prettiest pretend guitar controller, it looks a lot hell of a lot cooler than that ugly ass Les Paul. Oh yeah, I did go there.

The lucky devils over at Kotaku also got to play the thing and they’ve got all kinds of impressions from the regular play modes to info on the create your own song thing. I can tell you as a Rock Band owner I’m starting to get awful jealous of World Tour, since there’s no way I can buy and store another set of fake instruments. Here’s to hoping someone will make a drum kit that’s compatible with all the cool upcoming music games, because I really want to be able to play both Rock band and Guitar Hero without shelling out a fortune on stupid toy instruments. Sweet donkey balls, I need to rock out to Van Halen if they aren’t going to be on Rock Band.

Resistance Fall of Man 2 Gameplay Video

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Sony’s attempt at killing Halo with Resistance Fall of Man didn’t work all that well. Now fans of the first game and those hungry for more shooter action on the PS3 can check out videos of the game on Gametrailers.com or you can check out one of them right here:

I’ll admit that the first game’s setting appealed to me as a fan of historically based science fiction. You really can’t be the concept of aliens attacking during World War II (even if it isn’t entirely original), but for some reason when I played the demo of the first Resistance Fall of Man it didn’t really click with me. Perhaps I’ll give the game another chance, because the videos of the sequel here look pretty cool.

Will We Get KotOR 3? Former LucasArts Staffer Says Yes

Monday, June 9th, 2008

If you’re a game developer, what’s the best way to ensure that you’ll have all your current secret projects leaked to the press? Fire a bunch of your employees for no reason! When LucasArts let go one hundred staff members the rumors began flying by disgruntled employees. Perhaps the most intriguing is that KotOR (or Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic) 3 is in development. According to the staffer, KotR is the super secret project being worked in conjunction with BioWare and it’s not a single player adventure, rather it’s an MMO.

I’m as happy as the next KotOR fan about getting a new game, but an MMO? Really? I can’t stand MMOs. I don’t have the time nor the willpower to waste on days worth of level grinding, much less have the desire to have to pay a monthly fee to play a game.

Other games rumored to be in progress are an Indiana Jones game, another Indiana Jones Lego game, and a Star Wars lightsaber game. Can’t wait to hear what the non-Lego Indiana Jones game will be about.

Possible Rock Band 2 Box Art

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

After the success of Rock Band it was almost a matter of time before serious talk of Rock Band 2 emerged and it has! Through a couple of online surveys we’ve been getting some hints at the creation of the new game. The first survey asked participants about a possible price point. The second survey was a little more interesting as it asked participants which of two possible box art samples was more appealing. Here’s the first:

Zoids Assault Trailer

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Zoids are cool. Why? Nothing beats giant mecha in the shape of animals and dinosaurs. Zoids were never as popular here in the states as they are in Japan, but apparently Atlus USA thinks there’s enough interest in bringing this Zoids based strategy game stateside.

This is pretty welcome news. I love strategy games and I’m very fond of Zoids. My roommate is so nuts for Zoids that I swore he was going to figure out how to get an import version in order to play it, since the Japanese trailer showed that all the menus were in English.

If the trailer interests you and you have no clue what Zoids are, check out the official Zoids Assault website. It has some handy information on the story of Zoids and some of the different Zoid mecha.

Zoids Assault is expected to street on 08/26/08 for the Xbox 360.
