GameStop offers demonic pre-order bonus for Brütal Legend

Friday, October 19th, 2007

If you haven’t heard by now, Tim Schafer and Jack Black have combined their powers and are working together on Brütal Legend. From the description of the game’s plot, it sounds like everything Tenacious D and The Pick of Destiny should have been, which is awesome. But that’s got nothing to do with this.

GameStop is offering a pretty sweet bonus. If you are one of the first 666 people to pre-order Brütal Legend through the GameStop website, you’ll get this kick ass T-Shirt. It’s a nice little incentive for a game you should already have pre-ordered. I mean… come on, it’s Tim Schafer. That alone is reason enough.

Final Oblivion Download coming Oct. 15th, will be free for one week

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

elderscrollsiv.jpg

Bethesda has announced the final piece of downloadable content for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, entitled ‘Fighter’s Stronghold’, which along with Vile Lair, Thieves Den and Wizard’s Tower, comprise the four themed domiciles for Oblivion.

While it’s a shame to finally see the Oblivion support come to an end, Bethesda is giving us a little going away treat by allowing we, the people, to download Fighter’s Stronghold for FREE for the first week it’s available.

From the Bethesda blog:

Fighter’s Stronghold provides the last of four themed domiciles (along with Vile Lair, Thieves Den, and Wizard’s Tower) for the adventurer on-the-go. You inherit the rights to Battlehorn Castle, located on a lovely stretch of the Colovian Highlands, west of Chorrol. Dining Hall, barracks, wine cellar, training room, and your own private Shrine of Julianos. Update your castle furnishings, perhaps even a Dwemer Forge for the aspiring Armorer? Hire a taxidermist to tastfully decorate your new abode with trophies from your adventuring.

Now, now, PS3 owners — you’re not being left out in the cold. Also announced on Bethesda’s blog is the impending arrival of The Shivering Isles expansion pack on the PlayStation 3. While they can’t definitively say when, or whether it will be on disc or downloadable, they’ve promised that The Shivering Isles will be coming. Soon.

Finally, in addition to the Game of the Year version of Oblivion making its way to the PS3, we’re reminded that the boxed version of The Elder Scrolls IV: The Shivering Isles will be making its way to the Xbox 360. So, all in all, a good week for Oblivion fans. It’s just a shame that this is the last of the Oblivion content.

Xbox 360 Holiday Bundles due this month

Monday, October 8th, 2007

360holidaybundles1.jpg

Rumors began to swirl back in August about new holiday bundles for the Xbox 360, but now those rumors have been put to rest as Microsoft has confirmed that there will indeeed be a holiday bundle this Christmas.

The bundle, which will include both Premium and Elite consoles, will include two games: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Forza Motorsports 2. Both bundles will go on sale sometime this month for their standard console prices (Elite: $449, Premium: $349).

So if you’ve been on the fence about getting a 360, hold out a few more days. Trust me, both these titles are Grade A, and should be part of anyone’s collection.

Baldur’s Gate II + Expansion: $9.97

Friday, September 28th, 2007

bgate.jpg

Baldur’s Gate II is, arguably, the greatest PC RPG ever. Hell, even now, seven-plus years after it’s release, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a RPG fan who won’t give props to this early entry from BioWare.

Yeah, I said BioWare. I thought that’d get your attention. Before BioWare came to console prominence with both Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire, they were known for their deep, engaging RPGs. Namely, Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights. But that’s neither here or there.

If you haven’t played their classic Baldur’s Gate II yet, now is the time. You can get both the original game, Shadows of Amn, and the expansion pack, Throne of Bhaal, for a measley $9.97.

Do it. Now. Or else you’re supporting the terrorists.

Raise Your Hands if You Hate Free Stuff?

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

pika pika freeOkay, for all you with your hands down (you know they are stuck to your keyboard and mouse), click over to this link to sign up for a free subscription to EGM. Lets see the positives, 1) it’s not GamePro, 2) you need new bathroom reading, and 3) it’s free. Thanks to Joystiq for throwing this link out.

You don’t have to give a credit card out and I can personally vouch for these offers that come along every so often with Joystiq. From them I have received an EGM year subscription as well as a Games for Windows subscription, which I feel sorta sorry for as I am not a PC gamer, oh well, free is free!
