Xbox Website Updates - Plus Achievement Cheaters Go Bye-Bye

If you haven’t already taken a look at your profile on Xbox.com, you may want to log in just to feel the difference of a fast loading page, oh, it is sweet. Visually the profile pages are different as well, taking the full page down to just the necessities. I do miss seeing my last ten played games right away, but the little 5 last played games widget is decent enough, and honestly, log in and feel the swiftness of that loading! After that, you may accept this unannounced change rather quickly.

(Note: While writing this I loaded the page 4 more times, then on my laptop, and finally from my phone, just because I couldn’t believe the difference. It is like going from dial up to high speed all over again)

Cheating to get your achievements? Well first off, you are a sad excuse for a human (seriously, it is geek bragging rights here, it gets you nothing in real life, why are you taking any time out of your life to mess with this number!?! I mean.. c’mon!!). Microsoft has now taken a step toward cleaning up things in a much nicer way than Bungie does by “Banhammering” players, you will still be able to play games online, however you will now:

* Find your gamerscore reset to zero, and
* Be unable to regain all previously earned achievements, and
* Be labeled as a “cheater” for the community to view.

Xbox.com has the official guidelines as to what is considered cheating as well as more specifics here. To stay out of harms way, just don’t exchange game saves with other people online, using 360voice, people can easily see your true gaming habits, and I am sure Microsoft already has a much more advanced system.

Honestly, achievements, though I like them, are such a stupid thing to be cheating to get in the first place, so hats off to Microsoft for this. Also for some good laughs, check out the Xbox Cheater Watch. I wish that blog wasn’t serious.. but it seems like it is, and is really damn funny when it comes down to it, message your favorite cheater today!
