The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 2D

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

There have been many a debate about which was the best Zelda game of all time: A Link To The Past or Ocarina Of Time. Well, there seems to be a project out there that is fusing both games into one. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 2D is the brainchild of Dampe, who one day decided to take the complete Ocarina Of Time story and inject it into A Link To The Past.

It seems fairly close to finally being released, so keep your eyes out on this one because I’m sure it will populate alot of buzz when it’s finally released.

For your viewing pleasure, I have embedded the trailer that is located at the Ocarina of Time website. I know, I know, you don’t have to thank me, it’s what I do. Just remember me come Christmas time ;)

Crazy Glue + Wii-Mote = Ooohhhh Boy

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

I thought I’ve seen it all, but this news article really makes me question the sanity of Japanese youths. Allow me to explain…

Recently, there has been a huge buzz all over the internet pertaining to the strap connected to the Wii-mote. Some people are playing for hours and sweating up a storm. And unfortunately, some people have lost their grips on the controllers and have had some serious accidents.

Kids in Japan have taken the innovative approach of using superglue to attach the Wii-mote to their hands. Parents see the approach as silly and dangerous, but teens in Japan see being Wii-handed as a status symbol.

“I like the Wii controller permanently on my hand. I never have to search for it, and the other kids think it is cool,” said Yugi Tamagotchi of Tokyo.

[Update: Boy, do I feel like an ass. I wasn’t aware that BBSpot was a satirical website. So basically, this news article is false. But I wouldn’t doubt it for a second if it came from a reputable source ;) ]

Wii Have A Problem

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

Have you been playing your Wii and had a close call during either Wii Sports: Bowling or any other game and the controller slips out of your hand, and by the grace of god it’s saved from going into the TV by the strap? Well, the people over at Wiihaveaproblem.com had moments like that…but it ended in tragedy. People are learning that the strap that is connected to the Wii-mote is way too delicate. Either that, or people are getting into their game way too much and due to excessive flailing, cause the strap to become weak over time.

Either way, Wiihaveaproblem.com is an independent website that gathers heart-breaking stories of kids breaking their parent’s HDTV, girlfriends breaking windows, and people somehow breaking PDAs…all for the sake of “fun”

Grand Theft Auto: Regent Park

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

Wow….wowwie wow wow. This video is terrible! I understand that the whole point of the video is to “educate” parents that kids can play GTA and still act in a somewhat civilized and “normal way”. But if you are planning on making a video about video game violence and make it available for all of the internet to see, you gotta kick up that quality of the video. I mean, first off, they use these kids who sound like they already had a couple of screws loose before they even played GTA. And that has to be the most albinoest african-american kid I’ve ever seen. Should he even be outside? He should be home schooled and have to put a decent amount of lotion on his skin every couple of hours.

And who the hell is that homeless guy with the Canada shirt? Does he really know anything about the game? It just seems like they picked up some guy off the street and told him to say what they wanted for a nice cold 40 oz.

I’m sure there’s a point somewhere in this video, I just can’t figure out what it is. Instead, I’ll make fun of it like I normally do with things I don’t understand. It’s just how I do things.

Fils-Aime - “Nintendo Is Not Arrogant”

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

Reggie Fils-Aime has stated that unlike Nintendo’s rivals, Nintendo views success as something that must be earned, not to be expected.

“Are we feeling good about our success? Do we think we can have more success in the future? Absolutely. I do think that highlights a difference between us and our competitors: We’re not arrogant. We don’t view success as a right. We feel we need to earn success every day. And we’re going to do that by being true to the gamer.”

Fils-Aime also told us of Nintendo’s plan to get gamers past the dry spells between big release titles,

“I do think here in the Americas we want to be a bit more strategic in how we use the titles [on Virtual Console]… If there’s a month where we don’t have a fantastic lineup of Nintendo-packaged software, that’s where I want to release a great SNES game or a great N64 game to maintain the momentum.”

Hmmm….Microsoft can learn a thing or two from Nintendo’s strategy. I mean, during the week of Sony’s and Nintendo’s launch, they released Defender on Xbox Live Arcade…. smooth move Microsoft…

Hardcore Gamer Waits For Wii

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

Some memorable quotes from this gentleman:

“Hellllll no!”

“I want the Wii so badly I’ll do almost anything for them”

“Sleeps for babies, gamers play all night”

“Either Sonic and The Secret of the Rings, or Zelda, but most likely Zelda….swing a sword…but that one guyme…uuuhhhhh…Red Steel…that looks tight, I really wanna get it”

“Nahhhh, but I’ll just test it out….just test it out”

Oh lord….I can’t keep up…all of his comments are friggin classic! I also love how he makes it know towards the end that he wins at Halo 2…. “…ALL THE TIME PEOPLE!”

If you learn anything from this clip, it’s that you should never stay up for 5 days straight. And if you are going to camp for a console, please, for the love of god and those around you, try to be sane and be showered!

The Mii Lebowski

User bluegoogles has re-created a scene in The Big Lebowski using some Miis from his Wii. What results is a great re-enactment with great use of different facial expressions.

The video really explains everything you need to do with step-by-steps including the kind of linux that can be installed, what can be done now that linux is installed on your PS3, and what the future holds for your PS3 with Linux.

PS3 Already Being Hacked!

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

This gem slipped my hawk-like watchful eyes. People have already figured out how to hack the PS3. Sony’s idea of being able to install Linux on PS3 is turning out to be a pretty bad idea, because people are exploiting it and are able to dump a 7.08GB ISO file of Madden 07 onto an external hard drive and run it. Hackers also state that the PS3 file structure is very similar to the PSP’s, and that makes it easier to understand how the PS3 works.

Top 7 Girl-on-Girl Kisses

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

I don’t know how much Gamesradar makes, but they deserve a raise! They have an article up of the ‘Top 7′ Girl-on-Girl Kisses. And the list is very diverse in their range of systems and games that are covered. I don’t know what happens in the human male head that just thinks girls kissing other girls is hot. I wish I could pinpoint it, but it’s just embedded in our DNA.

I won’t ruin the surprise, but there have been many times that I played the #1 pick and just had to watch it over…and over again. Does that make me creepy or just sad?

To read the article, make sure to follow the link below.

Reuters: Video Games Are Bad For Your Brain

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

According to the recent report by Reuters, teens aged 13 to 17 tend to have more of a behavioral problem after playing video games. In their study, half played “Medal of Honor: Frontline” which has violent acts and military combat, while the other group played “Need for Speed: Underground” which is nonviolent.

Those who played the violent video game showed more activation in the amygdala, which is involved in emotional arousal, and less activation in the prefrontal portions of the brain associated with control, focus and concentration than the teens who played the nonviolent game.

“Our study suggests that playing a certain type of violent video game may have different short-term effects on brain function than playing a nonviolent, but exciting, game,” said Dr. Vincent Mathews.

If it’s in Reuters, it must be true, right teens?

Photo of PS3 Sold For $610

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

OK, I know that people are in a frenzy over this whole PS3 thing, but enough is enough. Who in their right mind would buy a PHOTO of a PS3 for $610. And let’s say the person really did want the photo…what would they do with it? I thought my article before for the $.99 PS3 was bad, but this one has to be the worst example of exploitation ever!
