Iron Man Demo Impressions

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

When Tony Stark started drinking, that’s when things got really weird.

Normally, I avoid almost all super hero related games since traditionally 99% of them have sucked major balls. Worse than the superhero game however, is the movie tie-in game. Through logical reasoning then, a superhero movie game is the ultimate in total garbage with a few exceptions. For some reason that I can’t explain, the Iron Man movie screenshots I’d seen had gotten me a little more excited about the game than I’d normally be. I guess it helps that the game is being produced by Sega. While Sega has had a questionable track record over the years, the name equates a little more in terms of quality than EA does with its usually horrendous licensed games.

Adios, Boys and Girls

Ladies and Gents it pains me to say my farewells to 1PStart. I’ve been here only a short time, though I’ve been at Xbox 360 Rally (another 451 site) for just under a year. I will miss you guys, though you’re probably throwing a party, chanting “he’s leaving! Huzzah! Huzzah!”. If you do miss me, though, you can find me at my new home BingeGamer.net.

It’s been fun, and I hope to see y’all around.

P.S.: Qbix — E-mail me, dude. I’m still gonna get your GTA IV to ya.

Pay $5 to Pre-Order Turok - Get Demo and T-Shirt..

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

.. the real cost though? You have to do it at GameStop. Yes, GameStop has reserved the right to screw over any people who were thinking about buying Turok but wanted to do like most people, try before you buy. This will be going on November, in December IGN has stated that you will be able to grab the demo from Best Buy who will come in for sloppy seconds on screwing you. A person who has worked on the game has given some kind of light at the end of this dim dim tunnel by saying, “As far as places without GameStop go…we’ll have something for you too.” Still, the whole situation begs the question of what good is a demo for somebody who is already going to be buying the game?

In other news for Turok, an interesting note, on top of all the multiplayer maps and single player campaign, there will be a 4 player co-op mode, but that won’t take you through the regular missions, rather, they created maps specifically for the co-op, saying that it will be its own campaign “telling aspects of that story from a differing POV.”

Lastly, good news and bad news for PS3 owners. The bad, no demo for you. The good, the nice developers working on the game have made sure to bring in some Sony engineers to ensure that the PS3 owner is not just some crappy port of what the 360 version is, much like what was done for Assaisins Creed.

Unreal Tournament 3 - Windows Beta Here

UT3 Is Here Bitches

Wow, when Mark Rein said that the UT3 demo would be here within two weeks, I did not imagine it would be this soon, I guess he didn’t either. In a move that is probably only really pissing off FilePlanet new subscribers right now who thought they would be playing first, the Unreal Tournament 3 Demo/Beta is here! Unfortunately, if you are subscribed to FilePlanet, you have basically paid for nothing (that’ll teach you to pay for a demo).

Then again, who knows, maybe IPs are being logged as to who is online with this leaked version, however, that is nothing I care about, I am currently downloading the demo as I type. Maybe this file won’t boot up correctly. Maybe this is the megaton virus trojan to end all trojans. At the moment though, I am guessing that it is a good file because there is a big fuss going on at the official UT forums right now, with all links pointing to the file getting deleted real quick. Someone posted a video of gameplay and it got deleted really quick, luckily I saved it and bring it to you youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU (Yes, that link was actually posted, and yes, they actually deleted it… not a bunch of observant mods/admins over at Epic).

Without further adieu, I bring you, the link for the torrent download of Unreal Tournament 3 Beta/Demo:

Unreal Tournament 3 - Windows Beta Within Two Weeks!

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

niiiiiiice

One of my favorite people in the gaming world, Mr Mark Rein of Epic Games has posted on their official forums a statement that I think you already figured out by reading the title of this post, but just in case you want to read it verbatim:

Folks,

Just wanted to give you a heads’ up that we’re getting pretty close to releasing the Unreal Tournament 3 Beta Demo for Windows. The Beta Demo will allow instant action play against bots as well as online multiplayer. The purpose of the Beta Demo is to test the game on a large variety of hardware configurations and get gameplay feedback from the community. The development team feels they’re pretty close to being ready to release this so it could come out this week but for safety sake I’d say it should be out within two weeks.

We have a few fan sites in tomorrow to play the full game and I’m sure they’ll be sharing their comments pretty soon afterward.

There you go, now just make sure you can meet the system requirements!

Crysis demo delayed, will include editing software

Friday, September 21st, 2007

crysis2.jpg

Crysis fans rejoice! The single-player demo for Crysis has been delayed until October 26th! …ok, so that isn’t what you should be rejoicing about. That actually sucks pretty bad. BUT, it was announced by Cevat Yerli, Crytek’s CEO, that the demo will include the CryEngine 2 - Sandbox 2 game editor!

What that means is that you’ll be able to play around with some of the editing/modding tools weeks in advance of the game’s November 16th release. Considering we have to usually take the good with the bad, I think the good (in the long run) will far outweigh the bad.

…of course, when Crysis actually comes out, who’ll care?
