Xbox 360 V2 “Experiment” says Microsoft

Microsoft game developer group Boss Chris Satchell has responded to previous reports of the HDMI-enabled Xbox 360 hardware stating that it’s simply an “experimentation”.
“At the moment, everything you might have seen is just looking at our experimentation back in Redmond, not really a product that we’re thinking about announcing,”
Either way, I personally think these experimentations should not be occuring. Microsoft should stand behind their product 100% and not think of a way to charge Xbox 360 owners more money for an updated box. If this experimentation comes out of the experiment phase and into stores, there’s going to be a riot…trust me on that.
Microsoft, Xbox 360, experiment

BB, I think you are over-reacting about this. Nintendo does this constantly with their handheld systems — look how many incarnations of GBA there are, or what about the DS Lite?
IMO, HDMI is less of an upgrade than making it smaller and with better screens (as is the case of the DS Lite)

Good point Chad. But, Nintendo’s products are a little more affordable than let’s say a completely new Xbox 360.

I agree with Chad. Hopefully what will happen is the original incarnation of the system will drop in price when this comes out. Then I can finally get one.

Guys Guys, just get a PS3 it already has HDMI so you can enjoy your Blu-ray games and movies on your 1080p TV’s with one cable. pmmff components are so 2005.

I don’t like it, being an old school gamer that is used to one system that never changes until it dies, but I think those days are over. I bet you’ll see systems change like iPods improve. You buy an Ipod this year and its even better next year. Hell, consoles have already changed in the past, just not as visably as this. For instance on first release the ps1 has different hookups on the back than the later ps1.

mrjuandrful, PS3 is a giant turd. There are no good games for it, and its too damned expensive. I’ll stick with my wii and get a 360 when the price drops.

Paul,
Regarding what you said about the PS1’s video/audio output ports –
The sad thing is that they actually got worse IMO when they moved from Standard RCA output to Sony’s proprietary AV Multi-out port

I agree Chad. I guess this brings up the question, would you rather have a console improve over time or get worse?
January 11th, 2007 at 7:16 pm
I would far rather have a console improve over time. Honestly, if Microsoft wants to release a newer, better 360 down the road, then so be it. I just hope its before Halo 3 comes out because that’s when I’m finally gonna bite the bullet and get one.

About this “improved” 360 console,Microsoft said they’re just fooling around with the idea.An idea that doesn’t make any sense to me.Are they really going to go through the trouble of creating a new console just for HDMI?As far as the 120G harddrive I’ve been hearing about, just make a bigger one for the exsisting 360.Common sense tells me as far as the harddrive goes, they will have to provide a larger harddrive. With tv and movie downloads they will have no choice but to add a bigger harddrive.Microsoft said if there’s a demand for it,they will do it.You can be damn sure there is a demand for it,it’s a no brainer.

Games, demos, trailers,tv,HD movies on a 12 or 13 G harddrive? The big harddrive is coming ladies and gentlemen. The question is when?
