When Will We Ever See A Worthy Football Game?

I am a fan of the FIFA series and that’s probably because they have been the only viable option so far on the 360. Last night, I decided to check out Pro Evolution Soccer 2007. I honestly didn’t expect much with the word “soccer” being in the title. I’m looking for the first realistic football game and it’s a bad sign when the title doesn’t use the word football. I was pleasantly surprised with some of the game and the rest of the game was sub standard.

Overall, I would actually say it’s better than FIFA in the gameplay and ball control areas. I was impressed with the ability for fake kicks, but the graphics were not detailed. The game was also missing many players and many real teams. EA really destroys this game in that category.

All in all it’s just another football or “soccer” game that failed to meet my expectations. If you already have FIFA 07, it’s probably not worth 60 dollars to switch. If you don’t then it’s about an equal value. I hope that in the future with modern technology that we will one day see a great game for the sport.

I wonder if the games title is different in europe. Do you think they call it pro evolution football, and that they called it soccer for the american market?

  2. Syko 360 Says:

Yes Because Americans A)Call it soccer, Football is reserved for the real sport of “Football”(NFL) B)Unless they call it “Hot Naked Chicks” these games will always struggle here. We don’t care about the footie it will not change until they stop having 0-0 (Nil Nil)games. Us americans hate that!

  3. SSJGoku80 Says:

I am a huge soccer…….Football fan and I’d have to say that FIFA holds reign supreme when it comes to that dept. But it is nice to have different options when it comes to football.

  4. Kezins Says:

Real sport of football lol. I love American football as well. I get stuck on using the term for both because I spent a good amount of time growing up in Europe and learned to play there. 0-0 nil games seems to be someting a lot of people hate around here. It’s kind of like hockey. I guess in America we love the high numbers.

  5. Ephraim Says:

Yeah… EA in general has gotten lazier with many of their games just because they are pretty much in control of all sports games’ sales. Unfortunately, they are also the ones holding the licenses to have the right to use the franchise names and player names that we want to play. That’s why Madden will outsell Football 2K7, or whatever they may plan to call it now that they’re continuing it again starting this year. Pro Evolution (or Winning Eleven as it was called before) is a great series for soccer games, but FIFA has all the licenses, so it sucks. Some of these sports leagues should stop having their balls handled by EA eventually since other game companies are making much better games now.

  6. StanTheMan Says:

simply put, the answer is NEVER….. unless they make somethin along the lines of nba street, that’d be tight

  7. Justin Conte Says:

Isn’t Madden enough for you people?

  8. Mazz Says:

International superstar soccer was the best soccer game ever. Ever.

  9. Rist Says:

I hear the Winning 11 seris is good…

    @Rist:

It’s pretty good. I am partial to a more arcade-y experience tho.
