Valve Responds to the Losers
So after the cool news at E3 that there would be a Left 4 Dead sequel (which we all figured was going to happen anyway), a bunch of whiners that have no lives complained about it and even put up a petition. Valve has now responded to the petition by saying:
“Doing a sequel in one year is new for Valve. But providing ongoing support for our titles after the initial launch isn’t - it has been part of our philosophy since Half-Life was released ten and half years ago,” said Valve president Gabe Newell in a statement to Kotaku. “We see no reason to change that and will continue to support the over three million customers in the L4D community.”
Now, one of the concerns is that the sequel will split the community. So? Doesn’t that happen to every online game? Some people play Call of Duty Modern Warfare and some play Call of Duty World At War, but you can always switch discs if you want. And is the Left 4 Dead community to tightly knit that they can’t play other games? No, it’s just a bunch of other people who will annoying you 9 times out of 10. My advice to the petition makers is to relax and think about other things. Your petition isn’t going to stop a company from releasing a game.

I think the petition is a little much, but the first L4D was waaaaay too short. I’m fine with them releasing a sequel, but they should create some more dlc for the first game.

ok first off i agree with this protest ,
secondly i am not askign for them to give free dlc’s all teh time
if l4d2 was released as afull blown expansion tothe first game with a expansion prie tage i’d grab it up fast , but as a second game that WILL out date the first game (regardless of what valve says) i just dont think it is worth the doh. ther is NO engine update what so ever, i’m a strong beleiver in sequals actualy offering somethign different not in just game play but in the visuals as well , and L4d 2 wont do this. again is ay just release this as buyable dlc, i dotn want freebies i just want valve’s usual commitment to a game even if i ahve to continually pay for said comitment infact i’m all for payign for dlc , i jsut can’t agree with them churning out a sequel that could have just as easily been released as DLC that would ahve really expanded the first game ( like the option of 8 cahracters to choose from instead of 4) or melee weapons and mroe guns thigns that were sorely alcking in teh original game and need to be adressed

Denver, you need to learn how to spell before people will take you seriously. It’s like reading another language.
