Rock Band is Gold *insert Gold record joke here*

Harmonix has annnounced that Rock Band, the spiritual successor to their original “Guitar Hero”, has gone gold. You know, gold… like the records. Yeah, bad joke.

Alex Rigopolous, CEO of Harmonix, reminds us of how psyched Harmonix is about their latest (and arguably greatest?) creation:

Rock Band is a true symbol of Harmonix’s vision, dedication and passion for music and after two years of development, we are thrilled that Rock Band is finally ready to get in the hands of rock fans everywhere

Now, you may be wondering what all you get in the “Special Edition Bundle”, known more commonly as the “Big Ass Box”? Well, for you Xbox 360 owners out there you get the drums, microphone and a “Fender Stratocaster” guitar controler, as well as a USB hub to plug everything in. For you PlayStation 3 folk, you get essentially the same thing only your guitar is wireless.

Bastards.

However, if you are a 360 owner, don’t fret — you’ll just have to buy your wireless guitar seperately, at a later date.
