Resistance 2: First Impressions
I don’t get that many games too often, but I have a source of PS3 games that occasionally makes games available for super cheap. I’m not bragging, I’m just explaining how I can end up with copy of Resistance 2 for the PS3 when I wasn’t overly impressed by the first game and really wasn’t looking forward to the second. Don’t get me wrong I wanted to play it, but it really was a back burner type of need.
So far there’s been enough changes that makes it both a better game and one that’s more interesting. The enemy AI seems to be a bit more aggressive, which makes it more challenging and fun. Still, if feels like there hasn’t been enough improvements made to take it from a semi-fun shooter into something that will rock your world. Things like the unkillable furies are arbitrarily put there to make you jump around a bit and don’t get me started on the controls. For some reason the standard controls seem much more complicated. Why in the hell is the sprint button the same button that is used for crouching? This can lead to some unwanted crouching in intense situations. I understand that it might require a little finesse, but it’s highly annoying.
So far, my recommendation is to either rent Resistance 2 or wait a bit for the price to drop.
