PS3 Saint’s Row Canned; Saint’s Row 2 Confirmed for PS3/360
It seems THQ has broken the hearts of prospective PS3 Saint’s Row owners, and yet, they also mended the broken pieces by announcing they are working on a sequel to Saint’s Row. THQ CEO Brian Farrell explains,
“We think the most important thing for the Saints Row franchise is to have a simultaneous ship into a larger installed base next year. We think the bigger opportunity is a multiplatform launch.”
I guess in the long run, THQ has the Saint’s Row sequel in it’s best interest. According to previous reports, the PS3 port of Saint’s Row was supposed to be released in October. I’m sure all of you know Saint’s Row on the PS3 would have been a huge disaster since it would have to go head-to-head with the mack daddy of all open-world games, GTA 4. I believe this is a great move by THQ. They should give GTA 4 it’s space and focus all of their resources on the sequel to Saint’s Row and release it Q1 2008. Hopefully by that time, we’ll all be done with GTA 4 and be looking for another criminal inspired fix.

It wouldn’t have even came close to GTA 4. I only played the demo on saints row and it didn’t seem worth buying to me.
