Thanks to Foxnews.com, we have this hard hitting piece of people who are playing a game doing virtual things, such as using avatars/characters that are young looking. A crapload of times Fox news articles hit my radar as a joke, this one, is a mixture of not so much bad reporting, just a subject that hits me as being non-news, something that I have no doubt is happening, but doesn’t matter to me other than being video games related.

In Second Life, there is a section of the game behind a strip mall that has younger looking characters that offer sex acts to users. If you read the article on Foxnews.com, you would be left with the impression that Linden Lab is doing nothing about the issue, but after clicking a few links, they have done investigations on the situation and seem to have a second age verification process on top of the already implemented one (ie you already have to be 18 to have just a regular account anyways, but another layer of ID process will be required for some areas in the game).

As I said, this is all non-news to me and really has no place on the national news circuit. On a very serious note, I will admit that I feel taking part in this disgusting virtual role play, is unacceptable, and is way way out of the ballpark in comparison to such things as killing a cop in Grand Theft Auto, or porn such as “Barely Legal.” It is disgusting and there is no two ways about that. However, after being a Loveline listener on and off for over 10 years (before Adam Carolla, way before Stryker, anyone remember Riki Ratchman?!), I understand these pedo sick f*cks do have some mental issues there, big time, with that said though, I rather these people take their mental issues into a virtual world instead of real life. Neither is good of course, but I think logically there is definitely a case of a “lesser of two evils” going on, and I equate these sick f*cks in Second Life to the sick f*cks who are into “loli” anime, they have serious problems and should be seeing a therapist, but thank god they are not on the streets but inside their homes alone (Apologies for overusing the term “sick f*cks” .. but it is hard to be creative on a very serious subject such as this, just calling a spade a spade). All right, enough ranting and bashing, onto some real gaming news.
