OMG C&C FPS? (Acronyms FTW)

Does anybody here remember Command and Conquer: Renegade? No? Good. Basically, C&C:R was a FPS set in the C&C universe. Developed by Westwood Studios and released in 2002, C&C:R followed the story of Nick Parker aka ‘Havoc’ in the typical one-man army war story. It truly was average in every way and I’m fairly certain no one has been sitting around clammering for another C&C RTS.
Unfortunately, it seems we’re still getting one.
According to little pixies that live in the trees and are one with nature (or Game Informer, but I like the pixies idea better), EA is set to announce Command and Conquer: Tiberium (not Tiberium Wars), and that the game will in fact be GI’s cover for the January 2008 issue. It is said to be a squad-based shooter where you, as retired commander Ricardo Vega, control a small group of elite soldiers known as R.A.I.D. (Rapid Assault and Intercept Deployment) as you fight against the new “Scrin”.
EA is being tight lipped about this so maybe we’ll have to wait until the January issue for confirmation. But you know… I still wasn’t really waiting with baded breath for a new C&C FPS. Sorry.

I not sure how I feel about this new game but the old one rocked hard online. Renegade was played and supported for a long time by modding communities.
