No Konami Code to help Resell Pro Evolution Soccer on PS3

In a pretty sad move on Konami’s part, Pro Evolution Soccer features a lock on your copy of PES08 to your console. Taken from the Gamespot review of the game:
“….the online registration process, which locks your copy of the game to your Konami account for online play. This means that if you ever want to sell your copy of the game, the next person will be unable to play online unless he or she has your registration details. To our knowledge this is the first time this has happened in a PS3 title, and Konami’s UK office declined to respond to enquiries over why the system was implemented.”
This is in no way a post to bash Sony or the PS3, but it does bring up the question of why this locking “feature” is included on the PS3 version, but not the Xbox 360 version? Worth noting is the 360 version of the game also runs in 1080p and has Live Vision camera support (put in your own logos as well as faces in the game).
With sports games getting a new version every year, most tend to just go to GameStop with the last version and trade in for credit to help ease the cost on the new version, why Konami or Sony would try and stop that really confuses me, as long as users are aware of such practices, this will surely stop people from purchasing such games. I suppose for now all you gamers reading can do is help spread the word if you know someone who was thinking about picking up this title.

Maybe they’re going to do what all sports games should do and that’s cut out all the disk buying year after year and just provide a downloadable upgrade from year to year. They can change the disk 1 every 3 years and make even more money by cutting out the cost of print and disk materials. However I doubt that’s what they are doing ..it makes too much sense.
