Nintendo Still Rockin’ Out
Famitsu Marketing Service has released their video game sales report in Japan covering the period of May 28 to June 24, and once again has revealed that Nintendo is completely dominating the entire Japanese market. Coming in as the top selling piece of hardware for the month was the DS and DS Lite, boosted by the recent release of two brand new colors, Gloss Silver and Metallic Rose (yet we still just have the crappy Pink, White, and Black, wtf?). The DS, shifting 535,000 units, has entered its 15th straight month of selling 500,000+ units, bringing the little handheld that could to a whopping 16 million total units in Japan.

In yet another victory for the Japanese native, the Wii, unsurprisingly, garnered the second place spot, shifting 271,000 units for the month. However, not merely being content to sell hardware, the Wii has earned yet another honor in that of software attachment, coming in with the highest software to hardware attach ratio of any console since 1996.
And as one final victory for the Big N, it was also reported that combined sales of DS and Wii software have exceeded 80% of all software sales for the month. All in all, the Famitsu report only reconfirms that Nintendo is doing something very right in the Japanese markets.
