Nickelback and Guitar Hero
Nickelback guy Chad Kroeger was recently complaining about the lack of good rock bands around and seemed to put some blame on Guitar Hero, “…So kids: Start rock bands. Set down the ‘Guitar Hero,’ learn how to play an actual guitar and start a band, because it’s hard to find more bands to put a solid rock-and-roll package together…” Yeah, Chad Kroeger is complaining about the lack of good rock bands. This is irony in it’s purest form.
I think I’ll take Chad up on his idea. I’ll put down my Rock Band guitar and start taking real guitar lessons. I’m only thirty, so I figure I should be good enough for a band in a few years, I can then leave my wife and start touring shitty bars. With any luck, by the time I’m fifty I might get discovered. Awesome! Best idea ever, Chad!
How long has Guitar Hero been out? Has it been out long enough to gauge any kind of impact it may or may not have had on future generations of guitar players? My guess is no, it has not. Any time a rocker blames Guitar Hero they need to shut up. The blame should be put on America’s retarded obsession with crappy digital pop music and the rise of shitty emo bands. Shitty emo bands spread a plague upon rock that needs to be burned away in the fastest way possible. And this is from a guy who used to like shitty emo bands.
