Microsoft Reveals Live for Windows Pricing

Game Informer finally got to make Microsoft talk, specifically concerning pricing for the Windows Live service. Microsoft will charge a very familiar $49.99/yr for Gold service, while Silver stays free. This is something that PC gamers, who have been able to play games online for YEARS at no cost, will not be happy about at all. But there is some good news to this train wreck.
The good news is that if you currently have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, you will not need to get a separate subscription in order to play on Windows Live. And also, with the Windows Live service, players will be able to join Xbox 360 players in games that take advantage of cross-platform gaming (i.e. Shadowrun for now).

Yeah, if you have a PC but no xbox this is really stupid. However, if you already have live this is pretty neat. I don’t see PC users jumping on board this train any time soon if they don’t already have live.

I don’t see them jumping on board either, but who knows. I’m not really a PC guy myself. The only games I ever play are either on a console or in the arcade.

Way to make the gulf between console gamers and PC gamers that much wider Microsoft. I am an xbox 360 owner and I believe that the more gamers playing a game the better, especially for an online multiplayer game. That is why I am confused about the decision to charge for a service that PC gamers expect for free.
