Memoirs of a Guitar Hero Addict

I’ve always enjoyed music/rhythm games. I believe the first one I ever seriously got into was Parappa the Rapper. I always had a love for music, as well as a love for games. Parappa the Rapper was my first experience of uniting both loves.
But now, a new music/rhythm game has consumed my very soul.
Guitar Hero.
I first really played Guitar Hero this past Christmas when my brother received it as a present. When I first played it, I picked it up pretty well since I’ve always been a fast learner. The music. The controls. The insatiable lust to tap my toes and bob my head along as I play. It was all a tease since the game wasn’t really mine.
So after Christmas, I never got to play it again. That is until it came out for the Xbox 360. Now, I can’t stop playing it. I play Guitar Hero at least 30 minutes to 1 hour a day. And the more I play it, the more I get addicted to it. It really is amazing how the difficulty of each song increases at such a gradual pace so the player gets gradually better. It’s also equally amazing how when you first play some of the songs in the game, you don’t think twice about them as being songs you’d like. But if Guitar Hero has taught me anything it’s this, repetition can make anyone love anything. And that John The Fisherman kicks ass.
If you’ve never played Guitar Hero and are thinking about buying it, I implore you to reconsider. This is a great game, but it is also very addictive and very fun. If you do pick it up, trust me when I say you will be transformed into a 5 star hunting, hammer pulling, double strumming, whammy bar pulling, star power activating Guitar Hero. And there’s no turning back.

Wow… since you implore! I love guitar hero myself and have always loved music games, my fist one of course was in 1998 Dance Dance Revolution. At that time no one had a clue what that was and it was only meant for asians. Guitar hero is alot of fun , I love the fact that you can just pick it up and go, it is very interactive and you get to feel like a rockstar each and every time you play it! Nice little memoir BB!

Now BB, I think you went too far by saying that Guitar Hero is better than Parrapa the Rapper. Parrapa had memorable songs that they produced and incorporated cooler graphics. I demand you to reconsider or at least have a memorial for Parrapa the Rapper.

At least you said “addict” and not “Master” because after checking the friends leaderboard last night you still got some work to do to catch me =)

I rented the game, it left my fingers sore. It also made me enjoy some songs by some bands I didn’t care for before.
Hopefully I will never rent it again though, as it really did do a number on my fingers.

Guitar Hero fans… The arthritics of the future!
Great game though, shame you Microsoft fans had to pay like double for the game but hey, it’s your lives
