LucasArts Working On Star Wars MMO without BioWare?

There’s been a rumor for sometime now that there will be another incarnation of a Star Wars MMO. After all, it’s one of the best potential properties for a massively multi player game around and the truly awful Star Wars Galaxies never lived up to the expectations or potential inherit in the property.

It’s been reported that BioWare is in development with Lucas Arts to create the game, but a website named Total Video Games is saying differently. They are reporting that the rumor is that LucasArts, without the help of famed developer BioWare, is working on a Star Wars MMO that will run alongside the upcoming Star Wars TV series in 2009. If this MMO is being worked on (and it most likely is) then this would make total sense, however it’s hard to rely on unsubstantiated “rumors” that BioWare is not involved.

Whatever the case, here’s to hoping that it won’t be another big disappointment like Star Wars: Galaxies.
