GDC ‘07: Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Media Blowout!
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is Nintendo’s next game in the Zelda franchise coming out for the Nintendo DS. The Phantom Hourglass takes place several months after the events of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, which explains the use of the wind waker art style.
As you can see from the trailer above and the gallery below, this is going to be another amazing Zelda game, especially with the inclusion of a multiplayer game. A full Zelda game, with an overhead style similar to The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past, AND a multiplayer? I’m sold!

Stylus control worries me. TP and the Wiimote controls blew, and I have little faith the controls will be any better.

Makes me want the game more and more. Stylus control is unique, I wonder how it’ll work out.

I preordered this game back in February, when it was supposed to be out this month. So much for that. I’m a little worried about the graphical style on the DS. It doesn’t fit quite as well as it did for Wind Waker, to me. I like the bit of throwback to aLttP with top-down play, but I see plenty of sailing. I really hope sailing isn’t the majority of this game.
This will also be the first Zelda game I’ve ever played on a handheld, so that will be totally new to me. I’ve played all the console version, and have trouble seeing this WW-style game done on the DS.

In respone to Justin, I think the TP controls on Wii were great. To each his own I suppose. Anyway, I had the chance to play the two-player mode of this game at E3 last year, the controls were good for the two-player mode. and the action was really fun and tense! I wish it hadn’t been delayed because I was really looking forward to getting my hands on it. But i’m sure the wait is worth it!

Man how can you say that the Wiimote blew. The game was amazing. Now all it need is to be in HD and we are set. I am sure that Phantom Hourglass will be just as good addition to the Zelda chronicles. Every Zelda game just gets better and bettr. I guess to each his own.

I have been holding back on getting a DS until that ‘one game’ came out and made me believe this was a system I have to own. This Zelda is that game.

I have yet to get all that excited about a portable zelda. We’ll see if this breaks the mold.
