“Into the Pixel” Fine Art Contest

This contest is where gaming meets art.
Presented by a collaboration between the Entertainment Software Association, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, and the Prints and Drawings Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the 2007 Into the Pixel art exhibition is now set to debut in its fourth year. And just as it has done in the previous three years, the exhibition plans to merge the world of visual arts with the world of video games.
The exhibition has openly requested for artwork specifically inspired by “the artistry of a scene or a character in a video game”. Artwork can be submitted directly to the organization’s website by May 4th, 2007, and all submissions will be closely examined by a panel of nine jurors, who range in profession from museum curators to video game company executives.
Out of all submissions, the jurors will hand-pick 16 distinct pieces, which will be unveiled at the E3 Media & Business Summit in Santa Monica on July 11-13th. But for those interested in seeing these pieces in person, the Entertainment for All (E for All) Expo in Los Angeles will be displaying them for the general public from October 18th through the 21st.
For the artists out there who might be interested, the website for the competition is located HERE.
