Get Your Torches And Pitchforks Ready, HDMI Enabled Black Xbox 360 w/ 120GB Drive Coming Out Late April
It seems all of the rumors and leaked pictures were true. Microsoft will be supplying a a new Xbox 360 that’s bigger, badder, and just downright more appealing than the current Xbox 360. Here are the upgraded specs of the system:
- Obviously it has HDMI support and will come with an HDMI cable, unlike some other systems
- No HD-DVD integration
- A 120GB Hard Drive
- It’s a sexy sexy black
- Will retail for $479 clams
- Will be available for retail in “Late April”
And if your interested in getting that 120GB hard drive for your current 360, Microsoft is going to retail the drive for under $200.
I “commend” Microsoft for believing in their system so much that a little over a year later, they have almost a completely new version of their old system. I mean, the integration of HDMI will make most HD-TV owners fume for picking up their 360 from day 1. But, in seeing the original Xbox’s lifespan, how were Xbox 360 owners going to suspect they’d upgrade the 360.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to be gathering a whole bunch of torches and pitchforks. I’m heading to Microsoft castle and I plan on banging on the door, begging them to take back my current Xbox 360 and give me one of the new systems!

BOY AM I EVER GLAD I WAITED !!! I do feel a little sorry for thost that own the 1st gen 360 though. Kinda sucks for them.

These are still rumors. I don’t think MS will change the console until after this Holiday season at the earliest.

Yea, I had to bite the bullet with this news report. It seems all signs are pointing to yes right now that this will be available.

One thing I hate is how and when the gaming industry decided to be so cruel to their fans? I mean, I’m all for April Fool’s jokes, but it seems every year that passes, there are more April Fool’s jokes coming out. This needs to stop because you never read a news article in a newspaper that sates something like “Florida Completely Submerged Underwater” or “Cars Known To Explode Without Warning”, and then when April 1st comes, the newspaper retracts their statement saying it was an “April Fool’s joke”. April Fool’s jokes really aren’t “funny” when you get people’s hopes up of something really cool or something they’d love to have and then all of a sudden the source from where you heard it from states it’s an April Fool’s joke. I don’t like it one bit

I was going to get excited until I saw it was Game Informer… they’re kinda slow / inaccurate in a lot of stories =(. Hopefully it’s true though.

How does this suck for anyone who bought a 360 to play games? You have been playing games on it now, and the hard-drive has more than enough space for game related content. Wow, HDMI, it will look slightly better IF you have a big enough t.v., yippee? Most people still use the speakers built into their t.v., those same people aren’t going top notice the difference between component and HDMI.

In my defense Justin, I actually have a 42″ Plasma TV with HDMI input, so I personally care. I’m sure the majority of 360 owners still haven’t made the jump to HD, and that’s fine, but for those who are able to get the most out of their system, this is disheartening.

OH CRAP. I just realized if you closely read the article that it says they’re adding IP TV (TiVo style). That’s really really really sweet if that’s true, especially if it’ll let you record in HD. The HD TiVo is 800 bucks, this would be a huge way to save money. I’ve got my eyes set on the new 360, definitely.

And I have been dying to get an HD DirecTV tuner for the longest, but I can’t bring myself to paying that much for it, especially when I don’t know how long I’ll be with the service. So right now, I got the sharpness down the lowest possible (which helps make the picture look dull, the way regular TV looks) and I’m praying for IPTV to come out. Hopefully they won’t charge an arm and a leg for it

What if I just wanna upgrade my harddrive to the 120 gigger. How would I go about getting all my data off the old harddrive onto the new one? That includes wallpapers, themes, arcade games, game saves, etc….anyone know?

Has anyone other than myself realized we’ve been living in a high tech computer world for some time now and EVERYTHING changes fast all the time? This year your phone is high tech, next year it’s old. This year you have the latest high tech tv, next year it’s old. Computers, stereos, washers, dryers, cars, everythng. When you bought a 360 and a 20 G hard drive wasn’t good enough, then why did you buy it? No HDMI was a problem? Then why did you buy it? If your answer is because that’s all the 360 offered at the time and you had no choice, then you made a mistake, not Microsoft. That’s what they were offering and you agreed to it. You did have a choice. You agreed that what the product was offering was good enough for you and you bought it. Unless your willing to admit that you bought a product you didn’t like which if true doesn’t sound very smart. Like everything else, next years 360 model comes out and now your pissed. I knew when I bought my 360 there would be a better one coming out because I heard rumours and knew not only was it possible but probable. I regret nothing because I knew the circumstances and have no regrets in the time and the games I’ve played with my 360. In todays world I wouldn’t be surprised if the 360 and ps3 came out with new models every year. Research a product, make a decision, and live with it without regrets. I understand why some people are pissed and to a point you have a right to be. But considering the fast paced high tech competitive world we live in, no one should be surprised about the new and improved 360. I’m just saying the world of business today is unpredictable because of competition. Be happy with what you do buy and enjoy the hell out of it for what it is. You’ll sleep better at night. Sorry for the long, boring rant. I didn’t mean to sound like I have a bee up my ass. Does anyone know a good proctologist?

April 29 is the set date… unfortunately they’ve said they made no hardware changes other than HDMI… so basically it’ll still be just as loud and just as hot. Looks like I might have to wait a little longer till I buy one… or actually I’ll probably end up buying it anyway.
