“Gears of War” will look similar to “300″

Stuart Beattie, the man tagged to pen the script to the big screen adaptation to Gears of War has told GamePro magazine that the treatment for the game may very closely resemble the manliest film ever, “300″.
That film was shot completely on green screen, which is amazing when you actually see the film… It’s probably how we’re going to do ‘Gears of War’.
Beattie rationalizes that the only way to make a movie on the same scope as the game, the film would have to be shot entirely on a soundstage.
It’s an epic sci-fi war and an enormous film. To get it made at all, the only way to make it for a price is to be on a soundstage. But the game also has that look, which is really interesting, so I think it will dovetail really nicely.
If you’re still worried about Beattie’s credentials, rest assured that he’s good. Films he has penned include Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (aka the good one), Collateral and 30 Days of Nights.
