Game Sales Up

In February, game sales were up 28% in the United States which was roughly $441 million in sales. The top game was Crackdown, probably due to an excellent marketing drive and the inclusion of Halo 3 Beta. Hardware sales in February actually went up 200% in February. This probably was because supply is finally meeting demand with the next generation consoles.

Hardware Sales Stats for February in the United States (Sales in units):

Nintendo DS: 485,000
Nintendo Wii: 335,000
Sony PS2: 295,000
Xbox 360: 228,000
Sony PSP: 176,000
Sony PS3: 127,000

    Yea, I wish this thing was solar powered though, I hate the amount of things I have to recharge. My cell phone, my 360 controllers, my laptop, my DS. Ahhhhh!

    Wow I’m surprised PS3 sold that many o_o
    Maybe I can go back to playing online on PS3 and not expect a desert anymore.

    I don’t see how the Wii is so popular, yea it’s fun for a bit but that controller will eat batteries kinda like I eat babies,

    oh yea, crackdown definatly got it’s boost thanks to the halo 3 beta and all that marketing, otherwise i don’t think it would have been so huge

    Put the halo-3 beta on pong ! Then just watch it’s sales go through the roof ! Everyone on my friends list plays crackdown for about 3 days. Then guess what ? They’re back to halo or another new game. Must be real good ;-)

    This happened to me with Gears of War actually. I played a few times and thought it was cool, but after a while I realized I would rather be playing Halo 2 if I’m going to be getting into some combat. I’m not saying Gears is a bad game either, because it’s great.. but can anything ever touch Halo.. perhaps only a future ripoff.

    I don’t think there will be another “official” PS2 price cut. I think the retailers are going to start having specials and such that will bring the price down.
