Finally! An Online Wii Multiplayer Game! Mario Strikers Charged!

Let’s see the. The Wii debuted last November and 5 months later, it finally gets it’s first online multiplayer game (no, I don’t count Pokemon, who still plays that crap?). Mario Strikers Charged is set to come out to the UK on May 25th, and with it brings all Wii owners a step closer to finally having multiplayer in their games.
“Players can also utilise Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to take on players from across the globe! Multiplayer modes include Ranked mode where players can compete to climb up leaderboards and Unranked mode where they can quickly select and play friends.”
The one thing I’m still concerned about is the stupid friend codes idea. Let’s see how it pans out when Mario Strikers is released.

Friends code are retarded, no argument.
But, trying to see the other side of it, it shouldnt matter that much in the end. You have random matches in games, ranked or unranked, as long as at the end of the game, you can add whatever players from that game as a friend, you are all set to go.
On Xbox Live, I have about 3 people that I know in person, all the rest of my friends on my list were from games I had played, it would be a cool bonus if I could be the one to choose their nick name instead of them choosing their own.
However, now that I am done playing devils advocate, I can go back to the original point, friend codes are retarded.

I think it’s the general opinion that friends codes ride the short bus. It makes me wonder just what Nintendo is doing….
Keeping shipments of Wiis from the public, and then for the few who have them, releasing nothing but crappy games for months.
Hooray Nintendo, you are alienating your consumers. I was one of Nintendo’s staunchest supporters during the years, but now my faith has taken a substantial blow.
