Enemy Territory: Quake Wars ‘First Encounter’ Developer Interview Video

A new developer interview video for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars has been released.

According to the video, The Strogg is a race that has evolved from years of warfare on their own planet. When there weren’t any more battles to be had on The Strogg planet, they traveled to other planets in order to conquer them. Enemy Territory: Quake Wars takes place when The Strogg first invade Earth and leads up to the events that occurred in Quake II.

One very interesting thing the video reveals is how completely different both sides are. Executive Producer Kevin Cloud says most multiplayer games are just reskinned versions of the same team. The two teams in Enemy Territory though are completely different. On one side, the Earth Defense Forces use traditional army weapons (tanks, machine guns, etc.), while The Strogg use more “alien” type weapons and vehicles.

I’ve been excited about this game for some time because I’ve been a huge fan of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and I have been dying for some kind of sequel to that game. Let’s hope Splash Damage and id Software can recreate the magic Wolfenestein: Enemy Territory had with Quake Wars.
