DDR In 1500 Schools By 2010

According to the NY Times, DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) will be part of the curriculum in over 1500 schools by the end of this decade. It’s interesting that a society that was hell bent on keeping kids away from video games and out of arcades is turning to games for help now. Perhaps the school systems are finally realizing you aren’t going to keep the kids from playing games, so they might as well find ways to use them for positive things. I still have trouble understanding how kids could possibly be out of shape these days though. When I was a kid, exercise was part of society. We played outside during and after school. I’m not really sure if DDR is athe answer for fat kids, but it’s can’t hurt.
Research on the game has shown that it is effective in improving the health of overweight kids. I think adults into video games could probably use some DDR or more exercise in their life. I’ve been getting out of shape myself. Instead of DDR, I have recently turned to playing ultimate frisbee and tennis outside.

Ultimate frisbee is similar to DDR in that you don’t realize you’re exercising, just having a lot of fun. And that’s the best kind of exercise.

Sort of like sex, but cave-dwelling nerds probably don’t get too much of that, so DDR it is !

oh definitely. Ultimate frisbee seems kinda dorky at first, but it’s a great workout.
