GTA IV To Feature Female Main Character & Other Exclusive Info[Update]

[Update: Upon further research, the idea of Elizabeta being a playable character is FALSE. We received this scan and information from a tipster and we apologize for it's innacuracy. We will take better precautions to ensure we do not spread any false information from here on forth]
This month’s Official Playstation Magazine UK issue has some exclusive information on GTA IV, including the introduction of a female main character. Her name is Elizabeta and she will be introduced halfway through the game. Some other key points from the article:
- Liberty city consists of New York and all of it’s boroughs which are Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Bronx, as well as New Jersey
- Liberty City will also feature real life landmarks you can visit in New York City, such as The Empire State Building.
- More information revealed about the main character, Niko. Niko was promised if he moved to Liberty City, he would live the American dream by cousin Roman who owns a Taxi service. When Niko arrives though, he realizes his cousin is really in debt and needs help to turn his life around.
- Rockstar began working on the game in 2004, right after San Andreas was released
I didn’t think it was possible, but just from this exclusive information, Rockstar is ready to set the world ablaze with GTA IV.

great, driving in gta was bad enough. now that your a girl the driving will be worse. but still, GTA on blueray disk!!! its gonna be great!

Does that mean there will be male prostitutes running around the streets now? I don’t know if this is a good idea (have multiple main characters) because that means less character development, and if there’s two main characters released now - there’s probably more to come (I wouldn’t be surprised if each borough had its own main character with a plot that intertwines). The name Elizabeta looks more like a joke - hence elizaBETA.

They do realize that New York has 5, not 4 boroughs. They’re missing Staten Island.

Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Bronx are not “all of [New York}’s boroughs.” Staten Island is the fifth borough, not New Jersey.

Staten Island should be there before queeens and bronx definitely, DEFINITELY. Where the hell does rockstar thing the italian mafia is from? Plus Staten Island has a seaport… and probably the biggest population of russians as well (for russian mafia… but i think its been established the main character isn’t russian)
I mean damn… not research much? In a game like this, in which organized crime has always played some part… how the hell is staten island not in it. And if this one has ports as a large component… again… Staten Island has a huge one (that a few years ago had a huge problem that mafia had way to much control of it)

yeah Staten Island should be there. I remember when I was a kid and we were driving into Queens and I thought all the land fills were some sort of chain of mountains.

Caveman times were the best, I remember those days like it was yesterday. Braud gets out-of-line, a nice back hand and a velocer raptor thigh bone to the sternum would straighten a cave-ho right up.

Maybe the reason staten island was not put in is because it would have made the playing area larger than what current gen consoles could support. Having those boroughs AND Jersey is already an amazing accomplishment.

no, it wasn’t included in the game because Rockstar thought it would be boring to play in Staten Island

On another note, I find it interesting that everyone is bitching about which parts of New York are/aren’t being used, but not as much is being said about the actual game or storyline itself.

I’m not so sure this would encourage female gamers to buy the game. I think it is cool that they are modeling it after New York though.
