Being a Jobless Gamer

So out of the many, many jobs that have been cut in the last few months mine was included in those numbers. My employer gave me a 30 day notice a few weeks ago. Once that’s up, I’m out the door.
As someone who enjoys gaming, it’s pretty tough to consider the fact that I won’t be able to purchase anything new for fear of not making rent or having money for food. I’ve formulated a plan to get me through these tough times, at least until I get a new job:
1. Go through old library of untouched games. Enjoy them.
Most gamers worth their salt will have a lot of games and some of them they may only played for a short while. Hell, they might even have games that sit unopened for years on their shelves. I don’t have that problem, but I do have a bunch of games that I meant to finish someday. Looks like my someday is now.
2. Resist all urges to purchase new games and DLC.
This one is going to be tough, especially with Rock Band songs coming out all the time, new Halo games, etc. Hopefully, plan #1 will help with that.
3. Freak out if my 360 breaks..
I can’t afford to buy a new one or get the old one fixed and I just know that piece of crap is due to break again. It’s the 1983 American auto of consoles. Currently it’s one of the few links I have to my friends back home, so I really like having access to Live. I guess I could call them and keep in touch that way if the thing breaks for good, but that’s so lame it’s not funny. I think I’d have to do dirty, dirty things in order to get it back working again.
