Atari to lose 20% of Workforce

Atari employees received some unfortunate news today. Their company recently announced that they will lay off 20% of their overall workforce, across a wide-range of positions. Atari has announced that the reduction will be completed by the end of July, with a “more flexible business model” being adopted by the end of the year.

While this is sad news for employees, it may end up being great news for consumers. The Atari brand has been on a downward spiral for a long time, with Dragon Ball Z games making up a majority of their release schedules. Let’s hope that this progressive move by Atari leads to greater variety in game development.
